Austrian Citizenship Days
The Austrian Citizenship Days are an annual nationwide campaign (each year between 23 April and 9 May) with the aim to raise and strengthen public awareness for citizenship education in Austria. The initiative of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education cooperates with important educational players in the field and is coordinated by polis – The Austrian Centre for Citizenship Education in Schools.
Together with local partners regional events in the federal states are organized, which cover a broad variety of topics and approaches to citizenship education. The program also features numerous online learning opportunities and presents digital materials (online-publications, online-lectures, podcasts, etc.). The radio station Ö1 accompanies the program with appropriate broadcasts. Citizenship Days following the Austrian model are also taking place in South Tyrol (Italy) and in East Belgium.
