The subject citizenship education has a different position in the individual types of school.

In vocational colleges it is taught as citizenship education, a subject in its own right. In every other type of school it is offered from grade 8 combined with another subject – history, contemporary history, law or economics.

In addition citizenship education is defined as a principle of teaching for all types of school and at every level; the content parameters are decreed as a basic principle. This means that every teacher can be called upon to teach citizenship education – even at primary level and before grade 8.

For this reason Zentrum polis is oriented towards teachers of every school subject as well as at every type of school and is striving to develop activities for every age level.
