Launch of the Educational Policy Advisors Network

On 23-24 April 2018, the Council of Europe Education Policy Advisors Network (EPAN) will be launched at a Conference on “Democratic culture – from words to action”, which will be organised in Copenhagen in the framework of the Danish Chairmanship of the Council of Europe.  The aim of the network is to contribute to effective reforms in the 50 States Parties to the European Cultural Convention in respect of education for democracy and human rights in accordance with the objectives of the Charter on Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education, in particular by encouraging integration of the Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture.

The establishment of the network is part of the follow up to the decisions of the 25th Session of the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education, including the endorsement of the Reference Framework of Competences, the call for the renewal of the network of coordinators for education for democratic citizenship and human rights as well as for the strengthening of the impact of the Charter.

The Education Policy Advisors Network will replace the Network of coordinators on education for democratic citizenship and human rights education.
